Instruction is delivered in three ways: whole-class presentations, small-group lessons, and individual instruction.
Whole-class and small-group presentations encourage collaboration, idea-sharing, and teamwork. These lessons foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for children to practice important values such as respect for others, kindness, empathy, humility, and cooperation.
Individual lessons are a core component of the Montessori classroom. Before children are invited to freely choose their work, they receive lessons on materials that align with their interests and readiness. During individual lessons, the Montessori Directress gives her full, focused attention to the child, making each lesson a meaningful and personalized experience. These lessons are carefully designed to support each child’s unique developmental needs and interests.
Our before- and after-school program offers children a variety of planned daily activities. Children participate in arts and crafts, music, outdoor play, story time, and movement. Additional extracurricular activities are also available. There is no television viewing during the before- and after-school program; instead, children are engaged in creative, enriching, and developmentally appropriate academic activities.
Our Montessori teachers are trained to recognize each child’s individual potential and periods of readiness. Children are encouraged to learn at their own pace in a supportive, non-competitive environment. All teachers are fingerprinted and have FBI and Department of Justice clearance, and are CPR and First Aid certified. Elementary teachers hold California State teaching credentials and Montessori Lower and Upper Elementary credentials, as applicable.
Our summer program is open to all students and runs from July through August. Montessori lessons continue throughout the summer session, providing consistency and ongoing academic engagement.
